Kuwait Institute for MedicalSpecialization (KIMS) of the Ministry of Health, State of Kuwait is the authority responsible for organizing all aspects of postgraduate traning of medical practitioners and other health professionals in Kuwait.

KIMS was established in 1984 under a decree issued by HH the Amir of Kuwait. The institute is engaged in a variety of activities, including the organization of internship training of pre-registration medical graduates, specialty training at various levels in different medical fields, and continuing medical education programs for health professionals practicing in Kuwait.

Submitting CME/ CPD credits Annually

All practitioners registered in the MPC program are required to submit their CME/CPD cridit totals to the CME Center every year. The Online Form is activated in January for submitting credit totals for the previous year.

The Certificates of Participation on wich the data are based should clearly show the total credits that may be claimed and the CME/CPD Category, where applicable. The certificates are to be obtained from the organizers of the respective CME/CPD activities.

KIMS an Examination Center for UK Royal College

KIMS now functions as a regional examination center for the following Membership Examination of the Royal Colleges in the UK for physicians practicing in the GCC countries:

MRCP (UK) - MRCS - MRCOG - MRCPCH - MRCGP

This facility constitutes a valuable opportunity for physicians to assess their competencies and obtain recognized qualifications for advancement in their careers. Further information is available at the websites of the respective colleges.

Health Vision 2020

Workforce Needs of Health Professionals in Kuwait

Health Vision 2020 indicates the project needs for different categories of health professionals up to 2020 for maintaining an optimum level of health care services for the community. The publication deals with physicians, dentists, nurses, pharmacists and allied health profrssionals.

MPC Program

Substantive Recognition by RCPSC

The MPC Program of KIMS is substantively recognized by The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Fellws of the College practicing in Kuwait have the option of participating in the MPC Progran in lieu the RCPSC's MOC Program.
